    Learners for this qualification must be aged 19 and above and have access to learners (candidates), who they will be able to assess both in the workplace (occupational competence) and in the training environment (vocational skills, knowledge and understanding).

    Overview

    This certificate is for those who assess within both the work environment, workshops and classroom based environments using a range of assessment methods.

    Qualification details

    Learners will cover:

    • Principles and requirements of assessment
    • Different types of assessment method
    • Planning and performing assessments, involving learners and others
    • Quality assurance of the assessment process
    • Legal and good practice requirements Making assessment decisions.

    This qualification is assessed through direct observation and through a portfolio of evidence.

    All learners must complete the following:

    • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment:
      • Knowledge questions and relatable supporting documentation

    For the following 2 units learners must provide evidence of assessing 2 learners using a minimum of 3 types of assessment methods from the following:

    • Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding:
      • Observations
      • Standardisation meeting
      • Professional discussion
      • Other:
        • Products of work
        • Witness testimony
        • Reflective account
        • Tasks/projects
    • Assess occupational competence in the work environment
      • Examining products of work
      • Questioning the learner
      • Discussing with the learner
      • Use of others (witness testimony)
      • Looking at learner statements
      • Recognising prior learning
